The History of Shukutoku
Shukutoku has a 100 year old history of tradition and pride in being able to introduce innovative educational programs. We are always seeking to become a larger scale educational institution.

1892Shukutoku Junior High School / Shukutoku Senior High School
Established as ShukutokuWomen's School.
In 1948, renamed the Shukutoku Junior High School / Shukutoku Senior High School.

1919Shukutoku Sugamo Junior High School/Shukutoku Sugamo Senior High School
Opening of the Mahayana School, a social welfare institution.
1931 Renamed the Sugamo Women's Commercial High School.
1985 Renamed the Shukutoku Sugamo High School.
1996 Opening of Shukutoku Sugamo Junior High School.

1943Shukutoku Early Childhood Education College
1943 Established as the Tokyo Nursery School.
1947 Renamed the Tokyo High Nursery School.
1993 Renamed the Shukutoku Cultural and Vocational School.
2004 Renamed the Shukutoku College of Early Childhood Education.
2012 Closed down.

1946 Shukutoku University : Junior College
Established as Shukutoku Agricultural College for Women.
1950 Changed to Shukutoku Junior College.
2014 Renamed the Shukutoku University: Junior College.

1946 Shukutoku Yono Junior High School / Shukutoku Yono Senior High School
Established as the Yono Branch School of Shukutoku Women's High School.
1948 Renamed the Shukutoku Yono Senior High School.
2005 Opening of Shukutoku Yono Junior High School.

1965 Established with the opening of the Faculty of Social Welfare Chiba Campus.(Daiganji-cho Chuo-ku Chiba-Prefecture)
1989The Post-Graduate School for Social Welfare Research was established.
1992 Renamed the College of Sociology when the School of Sociology was established.
1995 Opening of the Social Welfare Department master's program in the Graduate School of Social Welfare Studies.
1996 The College of Cross-Cultural Communication and Business opened in Miyoshi-cho, Saitama.
Opening of the Faculty of International Communication business environment department and cultural Department of Communication in Saitama campus ( Miyoshi-cho Iruma-gun Saitama-Prefecture)
1998The Graduate School for Social Welfare Research was renamed the Graduate School for Sociological Research, when a doctoral program was established in Sociology.
2000 The Graduate School of International Business and Culture was opened.
2001Department of Psychology for Social Science was opened.
2003 Reorganized the International Communication Faculty Business Environment Department in the College of Cross-cultural Communication and Business, and Opened the School of Business and Communication and the School of Welfare and Environment.
Opening of the Division of Psychology in the Graduate School of Social Welfare Studies.
2004Ikebukuro Campus opened in Toshima-ku, Tokyo.
2005 Renamed from the College of Sociology to the College of Integrated Human and Social Welfare Studies.
Renamed from the Graduate School of Social Welfare Studies to the Graduate School of Integrated Human and Social Welfare Studies.
2006 Renamed from the School of Psychology of the College of Integrated Human and Social Welfare Studies to the School of Psychological Practices.
Renamed from the School of Sociology to the School of Human and Social Sciences.
2007 Opening of the School of Nursing in the College of Nursing in Chiba second campus. (Nitona-cho Chuo-ku Chiba-Prefecture)
2009 The Establishment of Correspondence Courses.
2010 Opening of the School of Community Studies in the College of Community Studies in Chiba campus.
The Establishment of the Shukutoku University archives.
2011 Opening of the School of Education and Social Welfare in the College of Integrated Human and Social Welfare Studies.
2012 Opening of the School of Business Administration, and the School of Tourism and Management in the College of Business Administration in Saitama campus.
Opening of the School of Nutrition in the Chiba second campus.
Renamed from the College of Nursing to the College of Nursing and Nutrition.
2013 Opening of the School of Child Education in the College of Education in Saitama campus.
2014 Opening of the School of Communication and Design and the School of History in the College of Humanities in Tokyo campus.(Maeno-cho Itabashi-ku Tokyo)
2016 Established a master course of nursing studies at the graduate school of nursing studies.

1994Shukutoku Japanese Language School

Established to replace the Japanese Language Course which had been annexed to the Shukutoku Vocational College.
2000 School sanctioned by the Ministry of Education.
2023 closed school.
